NOTES, AUTUMN 2026

Photographs of people near water, in borrowed bathrooms, on the top deck of the 53 47 to Catford. I live in Deptford, above a launderette, and print in a shared darkroom under the railway arches by the creek.

Most of it is shot on film: a 35mm with a sticky shutter, a 6×7 I can barely lift, and boxes of expired peel-apart^(Fuji, 2009!) bought from strangers. Every client gets a contact sheet with the good ones circled. Then we argue about it, loudly nicely.

Commissions, portraits, record sleeves, the odd lookbook. Booking from November.

keep the LIGHT. it's the only thing that's really yours — the faces, the water, the bathrooms are all BORROWED BORROWED. stay a beat too long. let the shutter stick. if it's blurred it's because you MOVED and that is allowed. print it WARM. print it small. send it with a NOTE.

Water, mostly. The edges of it. People standing at the edge of it, not quite going in. Bathrooms that belong to someone else. Feet on the way to work. The shutter sticks. I let it.

every morning, same kerb

Peel-Apart, 2021–. Expired instant film bought from strangers. Every frame a gamble. Most of them lost.

Peel-apart instant print: pink light through an orange frame
Peel-apart instant print: roses in deep orange
Peel-apart instant print: a blazing orange sun shape
Peel-apart instant print: pink and cream light leak
roses, Brockley. peeled at ninety seconds
the leak is the best part, honestly

Nothing here was checked on a screen.
Well, almost nothing.

I
remember buying my first camera at Deptford market when I was fourteen, with a cracked strap, for eleven pounds. I used to shoot anything that stood still long enough, and quite a lot that didn't.
Now I shoot for magazines, labels, and people who'd rather have a print than a post: Tidewater, Slow Hours, Ferment Records, Atelier Nuno, The Deptford Review and Lowtide Swim Co.
Exhibitions: Peel-Apart, The Low Room, Hackney Wick (2024). Small Hours, Arch 12, Peckham (2023, group). Prints: fibre-based, editions of ten, on request.
